Have you ever wondered how Rick and I met, or if I ever committed a childhood no-no against him when we were kids, or any “behind-the-scenes” details that make a young marriage work?
Well, wonder no more.
Faith emailed me asking if I’d participate in her marriage series she put together to honor the 10th anniversary that she and her husband just celebrated, so of course I said yes. (Happy anniversary, Faith!) I am obviously not an expert, or even close to being an expert, and am being humbled every day as I learn how to be the best wife that I can be.
Marriage is one of those things, though, that you start learning “how to do” as soon as you say “I do.” So I have a bit over four years of experience on my résumé, and I also have parents whose 30-year marriage is an amazing testimony to the power of forgiveness and the Lord’s healing, and can confidently share a few things that I know for certain will make a marriage better.
And I also share the time I tattled on Rick when we were kids. Apparently that wasn’t enough to scare him off?
So go check it out here: Life with Mrs. G and the Artist. Thanks for inviting me, Faith!
And because I am curious, and if you want to appease my nosiness, all you married folks can tell me: how long have you been married? How did you meet your spouse? Let’s celebrate our happily ever afters. :)
Beautiful photo! The light is stunning.
ReplyDeleteCute post!! And you worked together in a pharmacy. Precious. :)
ReplyDelete6 years married. 10 dating. Man. We're old. We met through a mutual friend. She tried to set us up for quite awhile. Neither of us were into at first. She obviously knew something that we didn't at the time.
Great post! How did they justify the "cup" portion of the "peanut butter cup sundae"??
ReplyDelete7.5 years married and we actually met on the job. :)
haha not sure about that sundae...it was gross, though. :)
DeleteLove your post!
ReplyDeleteWe've been married for 4.5 years and we met at a baseball game with a bunch of friends. He arranged a couple of other group outings after that (I think he was testing me) and then asked me out. We were married a year and a half later.
Love the post!
ReplyDeleteWe will be married for 5 years in December. I actually wrote a post on how we got together, but the very short version is that we met in college. :) If you want the link to the post, just let me know. :)
I'd love to see it! :)
DeleteAww- so excited to go read it. I'm going now!
ReplyDeleteI met Shayne in high school. We've been going to the same school since grade 2 but really only got to know each other in 11th grade. We've been dating for over 8 years but only married for 7 weeks now.
Can't wait to see your story!
That is such a cute post :)
ReplyDeleteMarried almost 2 years; I got locked in his car ;)
Definitely hopping over to read it now. Going on 7 years for us. We were married on the two year anniversary of our first date (so 9 years together). We shared an office in grad school. It was kind if scandalous. Not really.
ReplyDeleteYou know the story...he was twice my age, my daddy's a preacher and no one thought it would last. Three kids and [gulp] coming up on 13 years later, I think they've finally figured out we weren't so crazy. Well, we're crazy, but not crazy-crazy. ;)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what gems you have in store for us with your dirty little secrets. Oops. Wait. You never said you were giving us dirt. Shucks.
I love your post!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are married for a little over 2 years, but dating for about 6.5. We met when we were both servers at Outback Steakhouse, I was 19 and home from college break and he was 21 :).
I'll have to check out your post!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should write about this today...I was just looking through all my wedding photos to write about our wedding and anniversary next week =)
We met 12 years ago in youth group at our church. He's 3 years older than me and started working for the church after he graduated, which was about the time I started crushing on him. We were love for about 2 years while I was still in hs, but he was a church employee (imagine the scandal) so we kept our feelings a secret from each other until I went off to college and he couldn't stand it anymore and just had to have me ;) We dated for 4 years and have been married for 1.5yrs.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely checking out your post! Your wedding photo is so pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteCharlie and I will be celebrating 4 years this November. I guess you can say we met through friends of friends; he went to drop something off at my house for someone, mentioned he was going four wheeling and invited me along when he heard I liked four wheeling as well. We became friends and a year later started dating and got married about year after that.
Married 3 1/2 years. We met online on Plenty of Fish.com. Had to kiss a lot of carp before I found my goldfish. Happy, happy, happy after some messy past experiences.
ReplyDeleteWe have been married 17 years now :o. I thank god everyday that we found eachother. We worked in the same strip of stores back in the hay day and i used to come into his pizza joint for fountain soda 5 days a week.He told my boss "i could fall in love with that girl" and we got married apr one year from that day :> .
ReplyDeletesecret-respect,caring and lots of hugs and kisses ;].
We met on a blind date! A mutual friend introduced us when Chris and I were both living in San Francisco. It was weird. We'd just met but I felt like I had known him forever :)
ReplyDeleteWe've been married for 9 years.
I love reading all these comments!! 11 years, met at college. :-)
ReplyDeleteAww, I loved reading about you two! I love your rules for a happy marriage. We met in 5th grade; he was the cute new kid in school. We've been married 2 years now. :)
