Helpful Felines Available for DIY Supervision

Our two littlest kitties are very concerned about the amount of time we’re spending on the closet/hall renovation; time that, according to them, would be better spent petting them into a purring puddle of oblivion and/or preparing dishes of minced caviar and steak. As a result, they have made themselves highly visible as supervisors during our process.

DSC_1020Dad doesn’t look too busy. Now is probably an excellent time to snuggle.

DSC_1009I can oversee all of your progress from here.

DSC_1027You missed a spot, Dad. And I’d like to attack your scraper, if you’d just lower it a few inches. Please.

DSC_1028This wasn’t here 34 seconds ago. Must investigate.

Meanwhile, our oldest kitty, whose aging sense of curiosity piques only when the unmistakable scent of canned chicken and giblets wafts through the air, has been graciously staying out of our way—and subsequently protecting herself from the dust in the air—by hiding in plastic bags. This may or may not be her version of the Senior Citizen Rain Bonnet that seems to become a staple of every woman’s wardrobe once they pass a certain age. She is 84 in human years, after all.

In case you were wondering, though, they’re all available for supervisory hire on your upcoming house project…as soon as their eleventh nap of the day is over, of course.

And as soon as we finish getting the last coat of paint up, I’ll share pictures of the rest of our closet/hall progress!

Happy Wednesday, blog friends! :)

  4. You have a great team of supervisors! Do they give lessons to cranky canines who do not like power tools?

  5. I'm starting to think you might have 27 cats, and these are all different animals in each pic. :) I love the senior citizen rain bonnet! Let's totally bring those back in style.

  6. They are so cute. They remind me of my puppy who is now self petting us when we are trying to do something. The things pets do to get our attention when it is elsewhere. I can't wait to see your closet reno, I am super excited to see how it turns out.

  8. Ah yes, pet supervisors. They have to make sure you're doing things up to code. ;)

  9. Ha! Our dog is usually the one in our laps when we're working on a project. I have a picture of Ty (our pup) putting his toy on a friend's leg while said friend was patching a wall hole for us. Ty thought it was a perfect time to play fetch. Adorable & annoying.

  10. Hahah I love it! Especially the 34 second ago comment, it's so true! Mine is currently annoying me to death by attempting to nap in between the tiny spot between my stomach and my laptop on my lap. He also smells a bit.

  11. So cute!!! My cats do the same thing to my husband. No matter what he is doing they are there to get in his lap. So sweet and I am so excited to see this transformation.

  13. Well there really does need to be a foreman on every site so I see the point the cats are making:) Man, you 2 don't waste any time getting back to work after the holidays. I"m impressed!

They are so cute! And helpful I see... :)
Our pups love to find inopportune times to sit in our laps (primarily when we have our laptops on them!)
Can't wait to see the finished project!

  15. Cat's out of the bag (hahahaha)...you all have had secret DIY helpers all along. I can't believe you two have been pretending to tackle all of these projects yourselves. I'm glad I now know the truth.

  16. Hahaha! Our dog, Georgia, always tries to "help". If only she had thumbs...

  17. That is so cute. Who doesn't need some extra help when tackling a diy project.

  18. My Grandma used to carry one of those plastic pleated fold-up rain bonnets in her purse. (Don't know why, living in Phoenix...)
Our kitty, Socks, wouldn't be caught dead in that fashion statement! However, paint on the tips of the ears & end of the tail, that's another matter.

  19. How lucky are we to have our feline friends there to supervise our work? Fievel loves to watch the sewing machine, sit on the ladder, and in general be as involved as possible. We'd be lost with out him.
