It’s readjusting time.

Day two of the school year: Student A writes that her favorite food is girl cheese. Student B writes that she is the mater of soccer and singing. Student C asks how to send an email.

Day two of the school year: Teacher A realizes she has her work cut out for her and needs to make sure the year begins well. This requires late afternoons at work and no blogging or house stuff. This requires a much-more-dramatic-than-anticipated readjustment to life as working woman after having two months off.

All that to say…I’m Teacher A. And Teacher A will be back next week. At which point Students A-Z will know how to spell grilled.

See you then. :)

  1. I have a couple boys who maybe would rather have a girl cheese. But then again one of those is reading a book (an oldie, perfectly good) with a terrible title called The Bastard. Yeah, when asked what he read over the summer he wrote down The Bastard. Can't wait for conferences cause I'm not teacher A.

  5. At my house we always ended up with gorilla cheese. I don't think I ever told my teacher that though. Best of luck and remember every student is important (I have a hard time remembering that about my classmates).

  7. I totally understand except for I had to step back this summer when youth pastors are wondering why Student A just snuck into the girls barracks to "haunt" their room and Student B decided it would be a good idea to sleep in the chapel and fake a funeral at 5 am. True story. Hope your transition goes well - sending prayers your way!!

  8. No luck needed - you will be great once you get into the rhythm. (Maybe I need to come back to school - I just had to google how to spell rhythm - lol)

  9. Haha! That was awesome. There was a boy in middle school that had a crush on me. He use to send me notes telling me I was the best gril he had ever met.

    ...

    lol!

  12. OMG, that's too funny (in a sad and not-a-teacher kind of way). When my son was 2, he called them girl cheese. I kid not.

  14. Thanks everyone...I love my 7th graders and my new school so far, so I'm happily adjusting despite the girl cheese! The girl cheese makes me even happier. It means there is room to grow. Par for the course of being a teacher, I guess. :)

  15. Maybe she didn't spell "girl cheese" wrong. Maybe she thinks her sandwich is actually of the female persuasion. ;)

    I don't envy you...but you'll be amazing.

Please return promptly with more bits of Erin-ness.

    And cheesy goodness.

    Hardy-har-har.

  17. Hello there, I'm so glad I stumbled across your blog!! It's so so so adorable! And I will try not to mention the movie enchanted either :)

Goodluck with your new class, I really admire teachers! I tutor students myself, and the ability to help someone learn is quite challenging at times. xX
