Three Ridiculous Things I Have Cried At in the Past 24 Hours

The conversation goes something like this:

Erin: (Upon seeing something highly emotional like a fairly hideous cat eating Fancy Feast food out of a ceramic dish) *Sniffle* *Snuffle* *Pbbbhhhfftt* (That’s a nose blow, obviously, like you had to ask.)

Rick: Are you crying?

Erin: No…I’m just…it’s just…so cute…

I embarrass myself.

I’m going to blame the mommy hormones, but the truth is that I’ve been tearing up easily since around the time I got married.*

*This is no reflection of how I feel about my life as a wife.

But my condition has become exaggerated in, oh, the past 12 weeks. And possibly the past 24 hours. Why do I know so? The proof:

Ridiculous Thing That Made Me Cry #1: An article in Parents magazine about a family who visited all 50 states. So sad. I mean, so happy. I mean, so Iamgoingtogohidemyfaceinshamenowbecauseitwasinthemiddleofthecardealershipservicearea.

Ridiculous Thing That Made Me Cry #2: John Dipasquale telling me on Channel 8 news that it is going to be 73 degrees on Thursday. *Sob.* Darn you, John. Next time, give a less miserable forecast, for real.

Ridiculous Thing That Made Me Cry #3: A Toviaz commercial. Toviaz is used to treat frequent urination. But really, it is an unfortunate malady; who wouldn’t cry? (Um…the entire known world.) What if that someone is shopping for her daughter’s wedding dress and can’t *sob* stay in the room because she needs to GO? (The answer is still the entire known world and possibly also the inhabitants of Neptune, who have never heard of Toviaz.)

Sigh.

Do you cry easily? What ridiculous stuff has made you tear up? Are you crying right now? Confess.

  1. do i cry easily? if by crying too easily you mean at the end of every single disney movie, hallmark movie, the end of every book i read (because i am mourning its ending), and that mattress commercial that plays "in my life" then i suppose so. welcome to the club.

I'm laughing so hard right now that I'm crying! Of course, my excuse now is menopause. Hubby never even asks THAT question anymore. If I sneak my hand up to my face during a movie, commercial or anytime, he just rolls his eyes and pretends he didn't even see me. But we've been married for almost 35 yrs, so he knows the answer without having to ask.
But I know for a fact that Hubby tears up when any kid at the grocery store mistakes him for their grandpa 'cause we don't get to see our grandkids. So it gets to him everytime some little one rolls by in the shopping cart, points to him and says "Papa?" And their mom has to say, "That's not your grandpa." (I'll bet that one made you cry!)

  4. I'm heartless. Seriously. The only movies that have made me cry...My Girl and The Notebook. The Notebook made me feel weak. I don't even remember the last time I cried. I'm sure it's healthy. :P

  7. I started to be a cryer when the Folgers ad came on where the soldier comes home for Christmas - still cry at that one and many, many other commercials.

  8. You know what they say, "Tears are 1% water & 99% feelings."
I'm a cryer. I felt really guilty about it & was constantly apologizing to my students & their parents. Until that glorious day a parent told me to never apologize for having a tender heart.
Now I'm free to cry unfettered at dog movies (you know, the "Marley" type...)

    1. Oh my GOSH--I SOBBED at various points throughout 'Marley and Me.' We had to keep pausing so I could compose myself. It was ridiculous.

  10. There are certain commercials that get me. And the first part of UP. And the first part of Return to Me. When the dog is just waiting for her to come home....sigh. I can't wait for your baby to come!

  11. Sometimes I'm a crier, sometimes I'm not. It really just depends. TV shows and sad movies usually get me good though!

  12. I've never been much of a crier, nor do I remember being highly emotional during pregnancy or since. What's interesting is the fact that D remembers me being HIIIIIGHLY emotional. ~shrugs~

  14. OMG. You are hilarious. I am a huge crier! I have actually gotten better over the years, but sometimes I just cry at the most random things. Glad I'm not the only one!

  15. I'm a guy and I cry.

I cried during Forest Gump. I cried in some movie I watched recently with my wife. She didn't. I tear up whenever I'm speaking about something that's close to my heart. When I was in Bible college and had to preach messages I cried or teared up everytime. I have no idea why but I do know I got it from my dad, because he does it too.

  16. hahahaha! I watched a video on youtube of a bunny washing himself. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI4zge4gJdw And it totally made me cry. I thought it might've been because I was exhausted at the moment, but then I watched it the next day too and it still had the same effect.
