Challenge

 Random Acts of Craftiness FAQs

What is this challenge?
Random Acts of Craftiness is a blog challenge in which participants must used a given--and pretty random--item to make some original. The point is to encourage the new and unique instead of just copying other projects seen around blogland. There will be a link party on Wednesdays at the end of the month for everyone to share their projects. Go here for more information. Other FAQs are answered below.

How much will this cost?
As much or as little as you want it to. Thrift stores and yard sales can be your friend, and some of the items you may already have on hand. They will all be common and easily accessible.

Do I have to sign up somehow by a certain deadline in order to participate?
Nope! Just join us the day of the link party and share some comment love with the other participants. You don't have to have participated the previous month, so join whenever! It would be awesome if you could put the Random Acts of Craftiness button found here somewhere on your blog, too, as a way to promote the challenge!

Do I have to participate every month?
Nope! It would be great if you could, but that is not always possible. The more you participate, however, the more chances you have of winning the end prize package (discussed here-"My Favorite Project Contest) but that is obviously not required.

When should I share my project on my blog?
Please do not share your project until the week f the link party. Let's keep it top secret until everyone has had to a chance to be inspired on their own!

Does my project have to use only the challenge item?
Nope. You can pair the challenge item (for example, game pieces) with anything else, and you can manipulate the challenge item in any way as well. As long as the challenge item is included in your project, it counts.

Does my project have to be obviously made out of the challenge item?
Nope. Go ahead and change and manipulate that item until it is totally disguised! Again, as long as the challenge item is included in your project, it counts.

Can I enter more than one project?
Yes! Go for it! Just please don't share any of them on your blog (if you're a blogger) until the week of the link party.

How do I participate if I am a non-blogger?
The day of the link party, upload your project photos and description to another account that you do have (ie Facebook, Photobucket, etc.) and just link to the link party from there.

I know it's supposed to be an original project, but what if someone has already made my project and I didn't know it?
If you think of it and NOT because you saw it before, it totally counts as original for YOU. What I really want people to avoid is the been there, done that stuff that is all over blogland. For this reason, specific "off limits" uses may be set each month if the challenge item has been used a certain way multiple times throughout blogland. For example, for game pieces, you cannot use Scrabble tiles or hang the game board/box on the wall, because both have already been done a lot in blogland.

What if I can't think of anything to make with the item?
Visit this post--there are some questions you can ask yourself.

What if my project looks awful?
We want to celebrate your attempt anyway! Sometimes fails are the most fun. So definitely still link up, and use the “What the $*%#@ is That?!” ribbon found here if you want to really make light of the situation. :)
